Privacy Policy
Match Cut is a weekly film quiz published by Winberg Consulting Ltd. This policy explains what the app collects, why, and your rights. We've kept it short because the app collects very little.
The short version
- No account, no email, no sign-in. You don't give us your name, email, or phone.
- Your identity in the app is a random key generated on your device plus a display name you choose.
- We collect your quiz answers and scores so we can rank this week's run.
- Your display name and rank are shown to other players on the weekly standings.
- We don't collect location, contacts, photos, or files, and we don't use advertising identifiers or show ads.
What we collect and why

We do not collect: real name, email, phone number, precise or coarse location, contacts, calendar, photos, files, microphone, camera, or advertising identifiers.
How your data is shared
- With other players: your chosen display name and your rank appear on the weekly standings visible in the app. Nothing else about you is shown.
- Service providers: our app servers and database are operated on our behalf within the European Union, and process the data above only to run the service.
- We do not sell your data, and we do not share it with advertisers or data brokers.
Where data is processed
Data is processed on servers located in the European Union. Connections between the app and our servers are encrypted in transit (HTTPS).
How long we keep it
We keep your display name, device key, and scores for as long as they're needed to run the standings and your streak history. You can ask us to delete them — see below.
Your choices and rights
Because there's no login, your data is tied to your device play key.
- Change your display name at any time in the app.
- Delete the app to stop any further collection from that device.
- Under the GDPR you can request access, correction, or deletion of the data associated with your device key. Email privacy@matchcutgame.app — to identify your records we may ask for the display name and approximate timeframe you played. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with the Irish Data Protection Commission (or your local supervisory authority).
Children
Match Cut is a general-audience film quiz and is not directed at children under 13. We don't knowingly collect data from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided a display name we should remove, contact us at privacy@matchcutgame.app.
Security
Data is encrypted in transit. Identity is a key generated and held on your device, not a password you can lose. We apply reasonable measures to protect the limited data we hold.
Changes to this policy
If we change what we collect, we'll update this page and the effective date above, and — where the change is significant — note it in the app or store listing.
